Time Flies

Time flies

Said the spider unto I

After building quite a web

He was feeling rather tired

Where, I said

As I’d not quite understood

And was dozing by a tree

At the bottom of the woods

Not that

Said the spider as he became a little vexed

I mean there’s never enough time

But being dim I was perplexed

I’d love to see one

As they must really be quite strange

But the spider he just huffed and thought

‘He really is deranged’

So bye and bye

As I slumbered at the bottom of the woods

I heard a buzzing from above

And as I opened up my eye

There he was

Gently humming, sometimes landing on a branch

And I asked -’are you a time fly’

I was working on a hunch

Yes I am said the fly

But please keep it under wraps

If you ever tell the spider

I may fall into his trap

Oh I see I replied

I’ll never tell him to be sure

But can you tell me how does time work

And is there a secret door

Yes of course answered the fly

And he buzzed into my ear

You see the spider doesn’t know

Just building webs year after year

But he builds them in the trees

And over ‘timeholes’ in the air

That’s why he never has much time

That’s why he works without a care

That’s amazing I replied

But I’m feeling rather sleepy

And I drifted into slumber

And it felt quite warm and leafy

Time flies

Said the spider unto I

After building quite a web

He was feeling rather tired

Yes, I said

As by now I knew for sure

That the spider builds his web

Over the time fly’s secret door
